waiting for de*guff

ahhhhhh willy gufron is a rising star in the 3d stratosphere

working as a designer and interior consultant in Surabaya-Indonesia willy aka de_guff found his passions in music (he plays guitar) and 3d modeling and rendering.

these are a few of his fave pieces (mine too!) and I can't wait to see what he's up to next... his renderings are so stylized and dreamy... I just hope he doesn't make us wait too long to see more of his superb work...

C4D aka Cinema 4D is a 3D computer graphics program by MAXON which I have not had the luxury of time to learn. I think it produces some pretty impressive images, but then again it depends on the CGartist and render engine. Maxwell Render and Vray are render engines typically used with C4D. If you have a C4D image you would like me to showcase, drop me an email with the image attached and we'll see if it passes muster...

Time Under the Trees

Dusk

Rain

Fog

Spring

Fall

Alfa Smyrna from Turkey created this scene for self-training purposes: to practice different seasonal and lighting conditions and to see how the environment reacts to the various rendering engine parameters. Alfa studied Architecture at METU School of Architecture. After graduation, he discovered his passion for CG (Computer Graphics). Tutorials for his process can be found at Evermotion.

'Fall' was selected as one of the top five nominees for the CGarchitect 2009 Architectural 3D Awards in the 'Best Architectural Exterior Image' category out of over 500 images. See the nominees here. It also received a Best of Evermotion Award. See the comments here.

Beach View {Polytown}
HO House {Dunsky Architects}
Foodart Event Hall {Gal Or Fishbain Architects}
Penthouse Pool in Rama Tower {BLK Architects}
Perlman Building {Mor Meira Architects}

For those of you who don't know, a 3D model is made up of polygons... hence the clever name Polytown: an Architectural Visualization Studio founded in 2005 by Ronen Bekerman.

I love his work for its stunning manipulation of simulated light!

and the WINNER is...

Who is the winner in your opinion? (leave comment below or HERE)

In my opinion 3dAllusions is the BEST portal focusing on architectural renderings, visualization, illustrations, and 3D renderings on the net. Back when it hit the web running I was one of its first moderators (albeit for a New York-minute... regretfully I was too busy to keep it up).

Founder|CEO Russell Thomas, a Seattle area resident, created 3dallusions to fuel his passion for his profession as an architect. A self-described computer GOD and comedic genius, he has found a way to leave the head ache of the practice of architecture behind. Now that's what I call creative thinking! I admire his gratitude and spunk and the way he has given back to the community.

His new venture 3dAllusionsStudio brings together a talented collective of CG artists for hire.

The Design Challanges - Charrette's/Themed Challenges is one of my favourite forums at 3dallusions. In the latest challenge, Charrette #14, competitors rendered a residence in Portugal, Casa am Alenquer/House in Alenquer by Aires+Mateus

:: you've got to be kidding... no I am not ::

Juan Siquier has been on my radar for many years now. I catch glimpses of his work in my mind from time to time and want to revisit his work and genius here. He writes a blog, he has been digged, he has been featured on almost every CG site on the net, he is a musician, a photographer. In fact he uses photography as a starting point for his street scenes. Sometimes it is hard to tell the photograph from his art. One of the pioneers of CG, he started creating images before software and hardware became as sophisticated as it is today. I am a modernist at heart, but his images, with their painterly quality, are quite irresistible. They appear like photographs which have had touch ups and photoshop filters added. The level of detail is utterly mind-blowing. They are all created using the tools of his trade... a computer, a Wacom tablet, and a mouse... I kid you not...
